"The After Party" 8.16.08
It was a great night of fights at the Orleans Resort Casino. Hook Jaw Net Radio and VegasPaco teamed up with Crown Boxing to throw the post fight party. When guests walked into the Crown Club pass the velvet rope, they were on the red carpet ready to get their picture taken with the beautiful Crown Boxing Girls. Thanks to Zee Helmick Photography and Kenny of Crown Boxing for snapping the shots. Complimentary Bud and Bud Lights were provided as well as pizza and salad from Joe's NY Pizza. DJ Ryan Wellman started the party by bumping the tunes which got the dancers on the floor. Fighters from the six bout fight card were present as well as Frank and Anthony Luca of Crown Boxing. The drinks were flowing and the dance floor was packed the whole night long. Everyone had a great time drinking, dancing and talking about the fights. Thanks to Daniel Kane for providing the beautiful models for the evening. Also, a special thanks goes out to Martin from Joe's NY Pizza for providing the food, it was delicious. I can't wait until the next fights and after party - PACO
Amaetur Mixed Martial Arts" 5.20.08
Lately here in Las Vegas, there has been a few amateur mixed martial arts events. These are great shows for fans because the ticket prices are lower and the venue is much smaller. If you are in the front row at a big event where the fighters are competing in a cage, then it's hard to view when they go to the ground. But, when the fighters are in a ring, you can see the action better. These fighters usually compete for a trophy or medals and a chance to make a name for themselves in hopes that a professional promoter may pick them up for an upcoming paid event. Most of the fighters are virtually unknown, but some come out of prestigious gyms like Xtreme Couture , LA Boxing or Cobra Kai in Las Vegas. So, the quality of athletes are pretty good. The fights are exciting and action packed with the crowd really getting into the fights. Since the fighters, don't have a lot of fights under their belt, it's hard to match up the bouts. Sometimes, the fight could go the distance with evenly matched competitors and sometimes they end with the quickest knockouts you've ever seen. So, if an amateur event comes to your town, you might want to check the action. Who knows, you may be watching the next Randy Couture. - Paco
From the "Fight Capital of the World" 4.30.08
There will be another Las Vegas boxer making his way back into the ring. Banner Promotions and Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino present Friday Night Fights on May 16th at the Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In the Light Heavyweight main event scheduled for 10 rounds, former two-time Heavyweight World Champion Chris Byrd, 40-4-1 with 21 knockouts, of Las Vegas, NV will take on Shaun George, 16-2-2 with 7 knockouts, of Brooklyn, New York. This main event along with another featured bout will be televised on ESPN.
I spoke with Chris Byrd at the last Crown Boxing event at the Orleans about getting back into the ring. Chris has been training hard and is anxious to get back in the ring. Chris is fighting at light heavyweight and coming into this bout at 175 lbs. I'm excited to see Chris, who is now 37 years old and appears to be in great shape, making a come back. We wish Chris the best of luck on his upcoming fight and we hope to get a full interview with him in the near future. Visit www.ChrisByrdBoxing.com
